TG | Members Gift Assessment

May 19th - May 19th, 2018

Spiritual Gifts are about biblical community, "God's action in bringing the church back to being a biblical community with integrity (Acts 2:42-44). By functioning in greater accord with spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12), the church is more able to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28) for greater ministry to the world. And he'll keep working with us until we've completed the work that he has in mind (Philippians 1:6).

Spiritual gifts are divine abilities, distributed by the Holy Spirit, to every believer, for the common good of the body of Christ.

Here at the Journey we hope to have all our members fill out a gift assessment and add their top gifts to their profile page.

Gospel fluency

SC | Gospel Fluency Equip Class - July 11

July 11th - August 29th, 2017

Join us for an 8 week Equip Class titled Gospel Fluency, which will begin on Tuesday, July 11, from 6:30pm - 8:00pm, and will last eight weeks ending on Tuesday, August 29.

We will use the book "Gospel Fluency" by Jeff Vanderstelt as a starting point for our teaching and discussions. We do have copies of the book available for $10 for class attenders and you can reach out to Jeff Fox (jfox@thejourney.org) or Laura Lane (llane@thejourney.org) via email or at the SC Offices . The book is also available on Amazon. Some reading will need to be completed before the first class.

What is Gospel Fluency and why do I need to be Gospel Fluent? Gospel Fluency is the ability to speak the gospel of Jesus Christ – the good news – into all of life. It is applying the gospel as the solution to all things and it is also entering into other people’s stories and lovingly speaking the gospel into broken areas of their lives as well. The answer to every struggle, every suffering, every broken place, every trial and every longing is the gospel. Without being gospel fluent we cannot faithfully walk out our biblical mandate to be an evangel and a disciple-maker.

We will spend eight weeks discussing Gospel fluency - what the Gospel is, how the Gospel impacts our lives personally, how the Gospel impacts the lives of people around us, and lastly in how we communicate the Gospel to people who are not Christians.

This class will be taught at the The Journey South County Offices – 4167 Crescent Drive, Suite 100, St. Louis MO 63129

TG | Child Dedication and Child Dedication Class

July 23rd - July 30th, 2017

Child Dedication is a special time for parents and guardians to publically announce their intention to raise their child(ren) to love God and to love others. Our church encourages parents to dedicate their kids because as a church we want to partner with the parents of our church family–making a commitment to raise our children in light of God’s promises. The Journey commits to support parents through encouragement, prayer, and ministries like Journey Kids and Journey Youth as they raise the next generation to love God.

Child Dedications will be held during each service on July 29+30. We are offering a Child Dedication class on July 23rd during the 11 service. The class will be located upstairs in Reber Offices. This class will discuss biblical foundations to raising your children to love Jesus. This class is not required but we encourage you to attend to meet other parents and to be encouraged about your calling as parents. If you have any questions you can email me jhutchings@thejourney.org.

Jeff Hutchings Pastor of Connection

He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments; (Psalm 78:5-7 ESV)

Midrash | Missional Living: Connecting the Gospel to Culture

July 23rd - August 13th, 2017

Midrash exists for two main purposes: providing commentary on culture and creating conversations that matter. Both come with the ultimate goal of pointing Christians and non-Christians toward the truth and beauty of the Gospel. This class aims to accomplish all of the above by fostering conversation among Christians about the Gospel's applicability to all areas of life and culture. We will also discuss how to best use our understanding of the Gospel to engage the heads and hearts of non-believers in our lives, thus equipping our church body to live on mission in every day life. NOTE: There will be 30-45 minutes a week of pre-discussion reading for this class.

The class will be held at Reber Chapel (Tower Grove campus). Pizza will be served weekly!

TG | Baptisms

August 5th - August 6th, 2017

We believe the Bible clearly communicates baptism as a vital step of discipleship and obedience to Christ. The sacrament is a symbol of the washing away of the old self and commitment in front of fellow believers that you have been made new by Jesus and are committed to following him. Visit http://thejourney.org/baptism to watch story videos on the impact baptism has had on the lives people in our church.

TG | GROW Conference

October 13th - October 14th, 2017

$15

Karis House is hosting a conference at The Journey Tower Grove that will be focused on the science of relationships, child development and strengthening the parent-child relationship. Participants will be given practical tools to care well for children in the midst of big emotions, difficult and confusing behaviors and a growing brain. Attendees will be led through a series of discussion topics in order to construct an understanding of the role of a parent in the flourishing of their family, as well as the role of the family in the flourishing of God's kingdom in our communities.

This conference is for anyone who cares for children: parents, grandparents, foster parents, Journey Kids volunteers, professionals who work with children and anyone who wants to better understand how to love and care for children well.

Due to the layout of the conference we ask that you only sign-up if you can attend the entire conference. We also strongly encourage couples to attend together. Please also note that childcare is not provided, so we encourage you to start making childcare arrangements now.
