SC | Equip: Gospel Fluency SATURDAYS

March 11th - April 1st, 2017

Join us for a 4 week Equip Class titled Gospel Fluency, which will begin on Saturday, March 11 (Please note that this is registration for the SATURDAY class as we are also offering a Tuesday option) from 9:00am - 10:30am, and will last four weeks ending on Saturday, April 1.

We will use the book "Gospel Fluency" by Jeff Vanderstelt as a starting point for our teaching and discussions. We do have copies of the book for attenders and you can reach out to Jeff Fox (jfox@thejourney.org) or Laura Lane (llane@thejourney.org) via email or at the SC Offices . The book is also available on Amazon. Some reading will need to be completed before the first class.

What is Gospel Fluency and why do I need to be Gospel Fluent? Gospel Fluency is the ability to speak the gospel of Jesus Christ – the good news – into all of life. It is applying the gospel as the solution to all things and it is also entering into other people’s stories and lovingly speaking the gospel into broken areas of their lives as well. The answer to every struggle, every suffering, every broken place, every trial and every longing is the gospel. Without being gospel fluent we cannot faithfully walk out our biblical mandate to be an evangel and a disciple-maker.

We will spend four weeks discussing Gospel fluency - what the Gospel is, how the Gospel impacts our lives personally, how the Gospel impacts the lives of people around us, and lastly in how we communicate the Gospel to people who are not Christians.

This class will be taught at the The Journey South County Offices – 4167 Crescent Drive, Suite 100, St. Louis MO 63129

TG | Members Gift Assessment

March 24th - May 19th, 2017

Spiritual Gifts are about biblical community, "God's action in bringing the church back to being a biblical community with integrity (Acts 2:42-44). By functioning in greater accord with spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12), the church is more able to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28) for greater ministry to the world. And he'll keep working with us until we've completed the work that he has in mind (Philippians 1:6).

Spiritual gifts are divine abilities, distributed by the Holy Spirit, to every believer, for the common good of the body of Christ.

Here at the Journey we hope to have all our members fill out a gift assessment and add their top gifts to their profile page.

The Insanity of God is the true story of missionaries Nik and Ruth Ripken. After the death of their son, this ordinary couple journeys into the depths of the persecuted church, asking the question - IS JESUS WORTH IT?

How does faith survive, let alone flourish in the places of the world that are overcome with the darkness of sin, despair and hopelessness? Join the Ripkens as they tell the story of being taught by believers in persecution "how to follow Jesus, how to love Jesus, and how to walk with Him day by day even when it doesn't make sense."

The film is based on the best-selling book The Insanity of God and is released in association with the International Mission Board.

We will serve Pizza at 5:30pm and start the movie at 6:00pm

The Journey Global | Pray for the Nations

April 1st, 2017

Did you know that 6700 people groups around the world have not been reached by the Gospel? Many in the 42% of global population that make up these groups do not have a single Christian in their sphere of life who can share with them the good news of Jesus Christ.

Come and join people from each of our Journey locations as we gather to pray for God's missionary work to the nations. We will spend our time praying for the lost, missionaries and churches ministering in these areas, and future missionaries to rise up from within our Journey network.

We will be meeting at the Stone Shelter, in the northwest side of Tower Grove Park, at 7:00am on April 1st, 2017. In case of inclement weather, we will meet at The Journey Tower Grove's Reber Space. We look forward to praying with you!

Whether you are just beginning to explore who Jesus is and what is the Gospel, are a new follower of Christ, or have been a follower of Christ for years, there is something in this class for you. In addition to growing in our understanding of the overall narrative of redemption found in Scripture, we hope this class will help equip us to tell The Story more in our everyday life.

TG| Member Serving Opportunities

May 7th, 2017

Thank you so much for clicking on this link and being willing to serve at Tower Grove. Listed below are serving opportunities with a brief description. If they sound like something you would be interested in learning more about just click on it and hit submit. Once we receive your submission someone from our staff will reach out to you.

Journey Kids Welcome Desk (need 3 people)- Are you interested in serving Saturday night from 4:25- service ending in our Journey Kids Lobby? We are looking for three people to help first-time visitors check in and welcome the children and families. You might even be the very first person a new family meets! With live streaming video of the sermon you won't miss a beat while serving in this important role.

Admin Help During the Weekdays (need 4 people)-Do you have a flexible weekday schedule and want to join a team of people who keep the engine running at the church? Our admin team is looking for 2 detail oriented people who want to serve our attenders and members by keeping the schedule up to date and building future schedules. We invite you to join us in the office on Wednesday or Thursday morning from 9-11 to puzzle through the preference and priorities of our many serving teams.

Response Team (need 8 people)- Every week a team of members joyfully facilitate worship through collecting tithes, serving communion, and being available to pray with others. Our 11:00 am Response Team serves two times a month during service. This means coming 15 minutes early to check in and get a nametag, then staying about 15 minutes after service to pray, clean the communion cups, or count the tithe.

Workday Helper (need 10 people)- Are you interested in helping to paint, assemble furniture, move things, do light cleaning and generally make one of our church spaces cleaner, better and brighter? We are having a workday Friday May 3rd from 6:30-9:30 pm. We will gather, pray, review the projects, break into teams, and make some great progress on our spaces! Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Audio Operator (need 2 people): The Audio Operator is a technician who ensures that the worship and message are both clear and enjoyable so that the Gospel is communicated transparently and without distraction.

Media & Lighting Operator (need 4 people): The Media Operator is a service to the congregation that allows them to focus on the heart of the worship and message. Using slides on the projector for lyrics and sermon points, and lighting cues to direct attendees' attentions, the media operator lays out a clear path leading people to worship freely without distraction. No experience or prior knowledge is necessary, and we will provide training on software and equipment.

Gospel Choir- We're always looking for vocalists to add to the TG Gospel Choir, which serves at weekend services approx. 9 times per year, with midweek rehearsals the week of each performance. You do not need to be able to read music to join.

TG | Premarital Classes Fall Session

September 16th - October 21st, 2017

$125

Marriage is an important relationship, one that we believe reflects God’s unconditional love for humanity (Eph. 5), and is meant to be a lifelong covenant commitment between one man and one woman. We want to help you prepare for, and maintain, a successful marriage. Our premarital program consists of a series of four group classes. Couples are paired with a mentor couple who will walk through the program with you. The classes and mentoring are open to engaged couples as well as recently married couples.

Register here for Session 2 Premarital Classes (Sept. 16 & 30 and Oct. 14 & 21). The four classes meet on Saturday mornings from 8:30am-NOON at The Journey Tower Grove in Reber Basement.

The cost is $125/couple which covers classes, breakfast, materials, DISC personality profile and mentoring with a married couple.

*Married couples, these classes are bent toward pre-marrieds, but every marriage mentor will tell you that these classes will benefit you greatly for years to come. It is God's word, after all.
